SUMMARY:100th European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN) Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Partners from the HERVCOV Consortium will take part in the 100th European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN) Meeting\, focusing on how telehealth and artificial intelligence can improve access\, quality and safety in primary care\, through scientific evidence\, digital innovations\, and collaborative discussions among clinicians\, researchers and policymakers. The intervention focuses on how data-driven patient clustering can support primary care in addressing the heterogeneous nature of Post-COVID-19 Condition (PCC). By applying hierarchical and machine-learning clustering methods to clinical\, biochemical and immunological data from Long-COVID patients\, the study identified distinct PCC subgroups with different symptom patterns\, severity levels and functional impairments. \nScientific contributions by Consortium researchers: \n\n“Optimizing primary care for post-COVID-19 patients: leveraging clustering techniques for personalized diagnosis and treatment“\, David Lerma et al.;\n“AI and Machine Learning-driven characterization models for post-COVID-19 condition: Enhancing personalized care in primary care settings“\, David Lerma et al.\n\nClick here for the program

SUMMARY:The 9th European Congress of Virology (ECV)
DESCRIPTION:The European Congress of Virology (ECV) is the flagship scientific meeting of the European Society for Virology\, bringing together researchers\, clinicians\, students\, and industry representatives from across Europe and beyond. Held every two years in a different European city\, the congress provides a unique platform to present and discuss the latest advances in all fields of virology. The HERVCOV consortium will contribute to the upcoming ECV with a presentation exploring the role of Human Endogenous Retroviruses in COVID-19 and Long COVID. The talk will be delivered by Professor Claudia Matteucci\, who will present a multiparametric analysis examining how HERV-W and HERV-K activation may be linked to immune dysfunction\, inflammation\, and the neurological and psychiatric sequelae observed in post COVID-19 patients. Using clinical\, biochemical and immunological markers combined with advanced clustering approaches\, the study aims to identify distinct patient profiles and highlight the potential of HERV-based signatures to support earlier disease stratification and personalized therapeutic strategies. \nClick here for the programme. \n

SUMMARY:Workshop "Tech4EVIta" - Advanced Technologies for Extracellular Vesicles
DESCRIPTION:Area Science Park will host the Tech4EVIta Workshop 2024\, an event organised by the Italian Society for Extracellular Vesicles (EVIta) together with Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste and CNR-IOM. The two-day workshop will focus on extracellular vesicles (EVs)\, microscopic structures released by cells that play a crucial role in cellular communication by transporting biological molecules. EVs are increasingly studied as innovative diagnostic tools and potential therapeutic carriers for personalised treatments. Central to the workshop discussions will be their use in medicine\, along with the integration of advanced techniques such as omics\, physicochemical analyses\, and functional testing in vitro and in vivo. The programme will combine plenary lectures\, thematic sessions\, poster presentations and dedicated moments for networking and collaboration. \nWithin this framework\, researchers from the HERVCOV consortium will take part in the scientific sessions with the contribution “The potential contribution of flow cytometry to characterize and define extracellular vesicles: the experience in COVID-19 and post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection.” \nClick here for the programme.
